I’m just a regular, degular, shmegular girl from Akron! I started taking barre at Barre Pose about 8 years ago and found it to be the exciting, challenging, and low impact workout I’d been looking for. I was inspired to become an instructor because barre helped me become a better version of myself and I wanted to spread the love and help other people. I trained and obtained my barre instructor certification under the amazing Stacey Downing.

If you have good thoughts they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely."~Roald Dahl
Shannon started teaching ballet in 2005, after taking a break from college and moving back to Ohio from New York City. It was then that she discovered how much she enjoyed teaching. Upon returning to NYC to finish her BFA from the School of Visual Arts, Shannon started taking Active-Isolated Flexibility classes with Michelle Assaf at Broadway Dance Center. She fell in love with this approach to stretching and strengthening and knew it was a method she would continue to study, practice and teach.
In 2009, Shannon packed up her car and drove to Oregon to work on an organic produce farm. Natural, healthy food has been a part of Shannon’s life since childhood and she knew it was time to get out of the city and play in the dirt again.
Reenergized and passionate about her own health and the food system we live in, Shannon again came back to Ohio and found herself pursing all her passions at once; teaching dance, running her own farm market stand, educating others about the importance of proper nutrition and making art. This path lead her to pursue a Permaculture Design Certification, where, during the course, she met her amazing partner Alex and, soon after, settled in Akron.
Shannon became a certified Pilates mat instructor in 2013, and works with small groups and individuals focusing on building strength and flexibility while remembering to breathe.
These experiences combined taught Shannon the importance of nurturing mind, body and soul, because our bodies can only fully function if we take care of them with the food we eat, the breaths we take, the movements we make, and of course, the love we give and make.

Tina became interested in Pilates over six years ago when, as a group fitness instructor, she took her first Pilates Reformer session. The focus, control, and strong yet graceful movements instantly reminded her of her love of ballet. Before long, she enrolled in Stott Pilates' Teacher Training and earned her Pilates Reformer Instructor Certification, which is her main area of focus. She is also certified to teach mat and barre classes and trains clients on the Pilates chair and cadillac. A teacher at heart, you'll find Tina's style to be attentive, patient and encouraging. Her classes typically follow a contemporary flow and incorporate fun variations, while challenging both body and mind. She's seen the truth in these words time and again through positive changes in her clients, her continuing source of inspiration. When not in the studio, Tina enjoys knitting, cooking and spending time with family and friends.

I fell in love with Barre 5 years ago, it was the perfect mix of strength training and stretching using the ballet positions from my dance years wrapped into a full body fitness class. About a year ago, I decided to take my love of barre to the next level and became a certified instructor. I have been a practicing physical therapist for 18 years, and currently work as a skilled inpatient care coordinator with Navihealth. My husband and I live in Copley with our two sons.
