Tara got her first start at the barre when she was 2 1/2 in her first dance class at the Kimberly Lee Dobies dance studio in Medina, Ohio. She enjoyed dancing competitively and non-competitively at various studios in the Medina and Akron area throughout school, and went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts in dance with a Jazz concentration from the Point Park University Conservatory of Performing Arts.
Tara received her AFAA certification and a start in physical fitness at the Akron General Wellness Center before making a big move to Chicago to pursue professional dance. During the 4 years she lived in the city, she traveled over 13 states as a freelance choreographer for high school performing groups, spending as many as 200 days on the road a year and working with hundreds of students. She also worked at numerous fitness facilities and spas, teaching a range of classes from aqua aerobics, kickboxing, step, stretch, cardio hip hop, sculpt classes, and personal training. She was fortunate to spent a year as an alternate for the Radio City Rockettes, and served work internships with the Gus Giordano Dance School and Hubbard Street Dance Company.
Since moving back to her hometown in 2006, she has been busy working at her own dance studio, Contact Dance Academy, affiliated with the award winning ETC School for Musical Arts, as well as Excellence in Dance, home of the well-renowned Cuyahoga Valley Youth Ballet and ROAD (Reach Out and Dance), Ohio's largest dance outreach program. She has taught a cardio hip hop class to a loyal following of ladies at the Cuyahoga Falls Natatorium for the past 6 years. During the summers, she directs the synchronized swimming programs at the Portage and Fairlawn Country Clubs. She is currently pursuing a masters degree in Dance Therapy. Tara currently lives in Highland Square with her 4 year old Brussels Griffon.
As a certified Barre instructor, Tara utilizes her dance training to create a unique ballet inspired, high energy class for clients.
