Shelley grew up in Copley, dancing for 13 years at Martell School of Dance. She started her fitness career over 15 years ago, becoming an AFAA certified group exercise instructor, and supervisor for Ohio University’s Aerobics and Group Exercise program. She obtained her Bachelors of Science degree in Exercise Physiology from Ohio University and then went on to receive her Masters of Physical Therapy degree from Andrews University in 2001. In 2007, she completed her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree through Marymount University in Arlington, VA.
Post-graduate, Shelley has been a group exercise instructor here in the Akron area since 2003. She currently resides with her husband in Sharon twp. and works as a full time physical therapist at the Akron General Health and Wellness North location in Stow. She specializes in treatment of all orthopedic and sports medicine conditions and injuries with a special love for the post-operative patient.
Shelley has a passion for health, wellness, and exercise. She credits her expertise and success as a physical therapist to the amazing physicians who have mentored her along with the wonderful clinicians she has been fortunate to work with since she obtained her state license in 2001.
Shelley is trained and certified in Barre and utilizes her physical therapy background to fuse this method with functional training. She is excited to join the team at BarrePose, hoping to share her knowledge of fitness, exercise and sports medicine in order to promote the health and wellness of every BarrePose client.
